Getting Found in Google, and Getting Cited by AI

The words already have to exist first — this is what happens to them once they

Getting the technical setup right — site structure, metadata, tracking — is only half of what makes content findable. The other half is whether what’s actually written holds up once someone or something reads it: clear enough for a person to trust, and structured clearly enough for an AI system to parse, summarise, and cite accurately rather than misquote or skip over. That’s a writing problem as much as a technical one, and it’s why this sits with the words themselves, not just the setup underneath them. Even so, we won’t oversell what good writing alone can do. A page can be genuinely distinctive and technically sound and still go uncited, because the domain hasn’t yet built up the backlink history, the track record, or the crawl consistency that search engines and AI systems weigh alongside the content itself. We call this The Silent Storefront — a well-written sign, on a structurally sound building, that still doesn’t get walked past because the street hasn’t learned to expect it there yet. Distinctive, well-structured writing is the necessary condition for being found and cited. It isn’t a guaranteed outcome on its own, and treating it as one wouldn’t be honest.

The Work Behind Getting Found and Cited

Keyword Strategy and Content Structuring

Writing and organising content around what people are actually searching for, in traditional search.

AI-Search Content Structuring

Writing content so AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews can actually understand, trust, and cite it as a source, not skip over it.

Ongoing Content Review

Revisiting existing content as search behaviour shifts, rather than writing it once and leaving it as-is indefinitely.

The Content Half of a Two-Part Capability

This is the content half of a capability that splits in two: LDP Websites builds the technical setup underneath discoverability — site structure, metadata, tracking — and this page is the words that make that technical setup worth anything. Neither half does much on its own; a technically perfect site with nothing worth reading ranks for nothing worth having, and brilliant words on a site that’s structurally invisible to search never get found at all. See our Websites division’s Website Design page for the technical half of this same capability.

Not sure this is your problem?

If what you need is the actual technical build — site structure, tracking setup, the plugin doing the technical groundwork — that’s LDP Websites’ Website Design page. If what you need is the words themselves, independent of search discoverability, that’s our Copywriting & Messaging page.

Found and Cited, Documented Elsewhere

Real examples of this work are already covered in full on our Case Studies page, rather than repeated here.

Questions About Search and AI Citation

No — we deliver both together as one capability, SEO / GEO Content, rather than treating AI-search work as its own separate, newly-invented service.

Either — existing content can be restructured and optimised, or written from scratch if nothing suitable exists yet.
